Kurdish Kids Get Gifts From Peshmerga

Some of us resolved to begin the year by doing more than just “slactivism” about our passions. If you are one of these people, this might be just what you are looking for.

On January 2, 2015, the Peshmerga Forces of Kurdistan delivered packages and gifts to the Kurdish children at a refugees camp in Iraq. In the video, attention is drawn to the feet of the children. Many are is sandals or other open-style footwear while clad in coats.

This youtube film is not in English.

It is winter in Kurdistan. Average temperatures range from upper forties to mid-sixties F˚during the day, dipping to just above freezing at night.

There is not heat readily available in the shelters of the refugee camps.

At the beginning of a new year, we thought since the Peshmerga Forces can lead by example, the least we can do is follow their lead. Who would you be helping, and how can you do it? This says more than all our prose in the world could ever express.

The UN estimates that currently there are 10.4 MILLION refugees worldwide. Get involved!
